Comics are a great medium for bringing different characters together to make great stories. Crossovers are a popular way of increasing sales for comic companies and for keeping readers hooked. They are also good for introducing comics readers to characters that they don’t normally read. There have been many great as well as awful crossovers. Here are some of the most memorable.
In the Star Wars saga Palpatine is the evil Lord of the Sith who is always pulling the strings. He is the head honcho bad guy and a classic super villain. Emperor Palpatine was first seen in the Star Wars movie ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ in a short scene where he contacts Darth Vader to discuss the threat of Luke Skywalker. It is only in the movie Return of the Jedi where we get to see the power and cunning of the Emperor.
If you are a Star Wars fan and you haven’t yet seen the clone wars cartoon series then go and do it now. You won’t regret it. The series takes place inbetween Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope and focuses on the war between the clone army of the Galactic Republic and the droid army of the Separatists. The Republic have the Jedi on their side while the Separatists have the Sith. The series is made up of 20 minute animated episodes and is currently in it’s third season.
The Transformers live action movies have so far been hugely popular and that is probably not going to change with the release of the third film Dark of the Moon in what is now being billed as a trilogy. The Director Michael Bay has said that this is the end of a story for him and that he will not be making any further Transformers movies. Continue reading
Great comics lend themselves to make great movies. Reading really great comics can often feel like watching a movie. The Dark Knight Returns for example is a movie waiting to happen.
